چکیده

This paper reports an analytical method to obtain approximate solution for optimal design of tuned inerter damper (TID) in MDOF damped civil structures. The is based on the equivalent linearization which converts mass-stiffness-damping system into a mass-equivalent stiffness and technique modal subsystem structure-TID SDOF system. procedures systems are introduced. Following this, proposed verified through comparison with numerical search methods A case study TID given, results show that able find damping ratio tuning minimize structural response.

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

construction and validation of translation metacognitive strategy questionnaire and its application to translation quality

like any other learning activity, translation is a problem solving activity which involves executing parallel cognitive processes. the ability to think about these higher processes, plan, organize, monitor and evaluate the most influential executive cognitive processes is what flavell (1975) called “metacognition” which encompasses raising awareness of mental processes as well as using effectiv...

A new semiactive nonlinear adaptive controller for structures using MR damper: Design and experimental validation

In this study, we consider the vibration mitigation problem for a structural system using a magneto-rheological (MR) damper. For this purpose, through the use of Lyapunov-based design techniques, a nonlinear adaptive controller which can compensate the parametric uncertainties related to both the structural system and the MR damper has been constructed. To overcome effects of the unmeasurable i...

Advanced computational design of shared tuned mass-inerter dampers for vibration control of adjacent multi-story structures ⋆

Inerters are a novel type of mechanical actuation devices that are able to produce large inertial forces with a relatively small mass. Due to this property, inerters can provide an effective solution to the main drawbacks of tuned mass-dampers and, consequently, they are gaining an increasing relevance in the field of passive structural vibration control. In this paper, a computational design s...
